【徐彩媚／嘉義報導】嘉義地區今天清晨出現攝氏15度低溫，嘉義火車站出口公共電話亭前，清晨一名76歲老遊民被發現躺在電話亭前，身體已僵硬，下午檢警相驗，由於遊民穿著厚重羽毛衣，初步排除凍死，但因老遊民有心血管病史，躺著像是睡著了，沒有外力介入的痕跡，檢警不排除因日夜溫差太大而致命。

鐵路警察局第三警務段嘉義分駐所調查，嘉義火車站前出口處的公用電話亭，夏天時都有部份遊民會窩在附近睡覺，冬天則轉移到較暖的地下道內睡覺；雖然政府有收容機構，但他們通常喜愛在外遊盪較自由。今天嘉義清晨出現15度低溫，創下入秋以來平地最低溫紀錄，因此，警方懷疑這名遊民可能因氣溫驟降而冷死，但因遊民年紀頗大，也不排除病逝。
　
檢察官王輝興、法醫薛治國下午相驗，由於老遊民余進德（76歲）沒有外傷，身上穿著厚重的羽毛衣，但因有心血管病史，不排除是日夜溫差大，老人家受不了而致命。
