立法院長王金平對外聲明，未來不向國民黨提出申訴。馬英九今(2)日表示，所謂申訴期是收到國民黨考紀會通知開始計算(9月23日)，目前仍未到期，他歡迎王金平能為自己辯護，針對特偵組的資料來進行澄清。
按國民黨規定，黨員遭撤銷黨籍處分，可在20天內提出申訴。但王金平昨日發布聲明，決定不向國民黨提出申訴，避免造成黨內紛爭和社會動盪，並期待政局早日恢復平靜。
馬英九上午赴電台接受專訪，強調王金平可能認為申訴期限已到，實際上還沒有，既然王金平強調沒有關說，就更應該利用這個機制，向廉能委員會進行申訴。
他補充，如果王進行申訴，屆時廉能委員會會做出一個結論來向考紀會建議，「王院長應該提出來」。
馬英九也以黨主席的角色喊話、鼓勵王金平辯護，畢竟從事件發生至今，他認為王金平都還沒有說清楚，相關事證都還沒有機會來說明，廉能委員會會是一個很好的機會。
此外主持人也詢問，王金平對黨內的公正性提出質疑，但馬英九回應，「考紀會邀他開會他有去阿！有提出申請書」。
至於前總統府副秘書長羅智強，認為王金平欠大家一個道歉的說法，馬英九則強調，羅智強已離開總統府，「寫這個文章我事前並不知道，我沒有辦法幫他來解釋」。
