●《紐約時報》：高不成低不就，HTC自救難
就在兩年前，宏達國際電子（HTC）因銷售大爆發，在全球手機市場中大展宏圖，它在各類獎項上屢有斬獲、股價創下紀錄、頻頻出手收購，還忙着從競爭對手那裡挖高管，以期對蘋果（Apple）、三星（Samsung）和RIM（Research In Motion）的強勢地位持續發起猛攻。

這樣的日子已經一去不復返了。HTC股價與2011年4月的高點相比大跌88%，在今年6月30日結束的第二季度，利潤下降了83%。公司還發出預警，第三季度的數據將更顯慘淡。

還有更糟的。

在8月的一份調研報告中，高盛（Goldman Sachs）把HTC股票的評級由「中性」下調為「賣出」，並警告稱，HTC預計最早也要到2014第二季度才能恢復盈利。

報告指出，HTC「策略不夠明確」，而且還反覆出現庫存問題。報告還說，其「銷售執行和渠道管理仍低於行業標準」。其他問題還包括，公司可能是在燒錢，這是因為「產品周期惡化」，而且公司債務還有可能出現增加。

幾名HTC員工稱，公司太過關注「超高端」手機市場，而且對這塊市場增長的放緩也視若無睹，同時還忽視了正在繁榮發展的印度和印度尼西亞等發展中國家的中低端市場。這幾名員工沒有公開對外發言的授權。

高德納的分析師呂俊寬(C.K. Lu)說，「HTC不知道如何製造一部較為廉價的手機。他們的基因裡沒有這個概念。不知道怎樣靠降低成本或差異化來取勝，往往只會降低高端手機的級別，而這樣做是沒用的。這是一種非常、非常過時的做法。」

周永明於1997年加入HTC，目前已經在公司掌門10年。他被視為推崇創新和質量的工作狂和設計專家。批評他的人說他冷峻而專橫，而且並沒有意識到，即便產品優秀，也無法彌補銷售、銷售和通路方面的問題。(來源)

美國華盛頓特區海軍工廠，美東時間周一早上，發生重大槍擊事件，至少12人死亡。槍擊事件是美東時間16日早晨8點20分（台北時間 21點20分）發生的。另有10多人受傷，其中3人傷勢嚴重。據報，來自德州的34歲兇嫌阿萊克希斯，在槍戰中死於亂槍之下。(來源)

【陳建彰／台北報導】統一證券表示，美國前財長薩默思退出聯準會主席競選行列，市場將其解讀為鴿派抬頭，因此昨日亞股歡騰，上周台股因馬王紛爭，漲幅大幅落後其他亞股，本周有機會彈升，但因周四起進入中秋連假，又有聯準會會議，可能有節前賣壓，量能難有效提升，指數仍是狹幅震盪格局。
 
以次族群來看，蘋果供應鏈受惠iPhone 5C銷售優於預期，有機會再度獲得買盤青睞，DRAM、4G族群也是盤面亮點；傳產族群題材豐富，大陸「金九銀十」概念股持續發燒，台幣升值帶動近期弱勢的營建類股有所表現，此外，美國8月汽車銷售月增0.9%，帶動汽車零組件走勢攀高，投資上可留意中概股、汽車及汽車零組件及網通股。

【陳偉周／基隆報導】本月1日台2線瑞芳路段落石，砸中行駛中的小轎車，造成車內2人受傷送醫；公路總局第一養護工程處景美工務段派員勘查落石砸車現場後，發現台2線82公里與83公里處上方仍有崩裂岩石，恐有落石危機。

為了避免落石再度掉落危及行經車輛，今天上午10時起，將封閉台2線81.5至84公里路段，派人將邊坡上裂石清除，再以機械破碎後清除，預計下午3時完成作業恢復通車。
