要出門前，你會如何知道目的地的天氣？上氣象局網站、或是開電視看氣象？現在，許多人會用現代才能用的方法：上網問網友。
在氣象局發布颱風警報時，PTT大氣版就會活躍起來。該看版除了分享對於氣象局提供資訊的看法或非官方的分析外，有部分網友會分享當地氣候，而他們的分享通常最準確，因為只要開窗看看，就能知道是晴是雨，如果在下雨，是毛毛雨還是豪雨。當然，在當事人誠實回答的前提下才會準確。
即使是平常時分，也常有網友上地方版詢問當地天氣，熱心網友花個一秒鐘動動手指，就能給他滿意答案。
PTT有時已超越Google成為全新的氣象觀測站，這也沒辦法，畢竟台灣的氣象觀測科技，無法像日本一樣，能夠精確到一個小區域。這也許是另類的人肉氣象台，不過潭美颱風來勢洶洶時，各地應該都是大小不等的風雨，還是別出門，用PTT來向親友報平安吧。
