義大犀牛總教練徐生明，昨(24日)結束與兄弟象的比賽後，回到家中突然心肌梗塞過世，得年55歲，總教練將由首席教練黃煚隆暫代。
「徐總在賽後和太太一起到住處附近的運動公園散步、慢跑，沿途有說有笑，太太還買一個他喜歡吃的紅豆餅給他吃，回到家吃完紅豆餅後突然就昏倒，家屬將他緊急送往台北市立聯合醫院。」領隊謝秉育表示。
陽明醫院急診外科醫生周玉蘭說：「在救護車上，我們有進行急救插管，心臟按摩，救護車在21：06分抵達醫院，在21：29過世，是急性心肌梗塞。」
今(25日)下午5時05分與象隊的交手，領隊謝秉育說：「總教練將由首席教練黃煚隆暫代。」
中華職棒聯盟會長黃鎮台，也趕到醫院表達哀悼之意，「徐總教練是一位非常傑出的球員和總教練，他突然辭世令人非常難過，我剛剛代表中華職棒大聯盟，向徐總家人表達深切哀悼之意，徐總在兩聯盟共拿下715勝，非常傑出，我已聯絡妥當，今天在新莊、澄清湖各有一場比賽，會在比賽開始前，也就是下午5點整的時候全體靜默1分鐘，徐總的離開對聯盟、義大都有很大的影響，我們會盡全力幫忙。」
