在中國人民大學舉辦的『大金融、大合作、大治理』國際智庫研討會上，諾貝爾經濟學獎獲得者，美國哥倫比亞大學教授羅伯特·蒙代爾預言，大陸將在2025年成為世界上最大的經濟體。
根據中新網報導，據悉，G20領導人第八次峰會將於2013年9月5日至6日在俄羅斯聖彼得堡市舉行，金融和經濟問題將是峰會主要討論議題。
羅伯特·蒙代爾表示，在G20會議之前舉辦此次會議是非常有意義的。他在會上介紹了過去一百多年國際貨幣體系演進的歷史，並提出了構建未來相對穩定國際貨幣體系的構想。
在會上，羅伯特·蒙代爾還預言，大陸將在2025年成為世界上最大的經濟體。他表示，從經濟總量來看，大陸是世界上第三大經濟區，GDP是45兆人民幣。『大陸的產出現在差不多是美國產出的一半，如果大陸經濟仍然按照現在這個發展速度的話，在十年左右的時間，大陸的GDP可能就會和美國一樣了。到了2022至2025年左右，大陸的GDP很可能超過美國的GDP。』
他指出，2007年他就呼籲將人民幣納入SDR(特別提款權)體系，與歐美元組合在一起，建立一種新型的多元化國際貨幣體系，進一步確保匯率和世界經濟的穩定。因為不管貿易額還是融資額，大陸都應該包含在這個體系內。
據了解，此次『大金融、大合作、大治理』國際智庫研討會由中國人民大學主辦、人大重陽金融研究院承辦，這也是大陸首次舉辦20國智庫會議。來自美國、歐盟、金磚國家、韓日、拉美、中東等20個國家和地區的26家智庫代表全部出席，他們就『後金融危機時代的全球治理』、『新興經濟體的作用』、『大陸的發展與G20的未來』等議題展開為期2天的討論。
