苗栗大埔4戶被強拆，抗議民眾聚集內政部前靜坐，要求廢除區段徵收，並提出徵收案舉行聽證會等訴求。內政部次長蕭家淇19日回應表示，區段徵收是必要的建設方式，目前不可能廢除，但執行細節可以討論。

蕭家淇受訪指出，區段徵收對政府而言，可以取得較完整的土地，做為公共建設使用，包括新竹縣政府遷建、高鐵台中與新竹站、台北大學等都採區段徵收。

蕭家淇強調，區段徵收是必要的建設方式，若修法廢除，恐導致許多重大建設無法推動，目前不可能廢除，但執行細節可以再討論。

他說，若民眾有意見，也可以提供內政部參考。

蕭家淇認為，若每個徵收案都舉行聽證會，執行面並不可行，因為每年有上百件徵收案，且若一件徵收案受影響的民眾只有2人，而且大家都沒意見、沒有爭議，就應該沒有舉辦聽證會的必要。
