反監控　谷歌臉書大量購入光纖電纜

【國際中心／綜合報導】搜尋引擎谷歌和社群網站臉書不甘再向電訊網路商租用光纖電纜傳輸數據，正斥資建立自家的光纖網路，除了長遠可減輕成本和自行操控傳輸量之外，更可以對抗美國以至其他國家的監控。

《華爾街日報》稱谷歌已在全球收購了約16萬公里的光纖電纜，數量比美國第三大網路供應商「Sprint」多一倍；臉書同樣在亞洲和歐洲擁有大量光纖電纜。

擁有自家光纖網絡可掌握更大自主權，若政府透過發出法庭索取數據資料，谷歌等科技企業作為網路擁有者，可更有效控制交出的數據，亦能夠更清楚掌握政府如何進行監控。而且數據流量若操控在網路商手上，遇到用量高峰期，網路商可能會阻遏傳輸，擁有自家網路的話，就不必受制於人。
