微晶瓷是一種微晶體顆粒的「生物軟陶瓷」，主要結構與成份為 Calcium Hydroxylapatite CaHA( 羥基磷灰石鈣 )，這個成分跟人體骨骼和牙齒中的礦物質成分類似，具有 100% 生物相容性與生物可分解性，所以在過去是為整形外科、耳鼻喉科、牙科常用的原料，在臨床使用已經超過25年，是一個非常安全又成熟的材質，微晶瓷輪廓雕塑劑Radiesse含有30%微晶球體，懸浮於70%液態凝膠的載體中，注射進入組織間後，這些微晶瓷晶球會形成一個骨架，而液態凝膠會漸漸被吸收，在此同時新生的膠原蛋白會取代這些膠質，與微晶瓷球的骨架結合成為一個穩定的填充結構，在人體組織裡維持的時間可以到18-24個月，之後可以完全被人體我分解成鈣與磷離子，不會有任何殘留。
