就讀政治大學時，林孟璋就參加國際性社團組織AIESEC，許多國際經驗在當時學習、摸索而來，包含邀請企業主提供外國學生工作機會、與國際間不同的人事物直接接觸，因此，他很早就看見台灣以外另一個世界。

林孟璋很鼓勵年輕人多了解國際事務、閱讀國際新聞，看見生活圈以外的事物，林孟璋舉例說，知名的Krispy Kreme甜甜圈店來到台灣開店，掀起一窩蜂的追逐熱潮，但如果早就曉得這在國外行之有年，想必有一部分的人就不會如此為之瘋狂。此外，林孟璋認為，吸收國際事物，讓人不安逸於自以為的舒適環境，勇於突破，並且隨時做好改變的準備，更好的機會才會找上門。
