埃及前總統穆巴拉克遭判定利用武力鎮壓示威者，導致多人死亡有罪一事被監禁，但檢方目前於當地時間21日下令開羅監獄釋放穆巴拉克，已將釋放穆巴拉克的書面指示，送達開羅托拉監獄。

穆巴拉克曾統治埃及長達30年，直至2011年初，於橫掃阿拉伯世界的人民起義風潮中遭推翻下台，而他未遏阻殺害示威民眾一事，遭當地政府判處無期徒刑，而法庭今日於開羅關押穆巴拉克（Hosni Mubarak）的托拉監獄（Tora）開庭，同意釋放穆巴拉克。

專家認為，雖然年齡高達85歲的穆巴拉克已沒有政治前景，但他的獲釋象徵了恢復經歷60年軍事統治的舊秩序，甚至有可能推翻他的民主變革，最重要的是，他的釋放可能又會引起一場大暴動。

埃及軍方於7月才發動政變，決定罷黜首任民選總統莫西（Mohammed Morsi），此舉引發社會激烈衝突，近來軍方強烈鎮壓支持莫西的穆斯林兄弟會，近一周內已達900死亡人數。
